Kimberly Duncan: Delete Blood Cancer

11/03/2014 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

headshotDuncan lost her mother to cancer and took custody of her two younger siblings at a young age.  Because of this experience she has deep compassion and empathy for the families and friends of those suffering from illnesses.  Her continued desire for helping people stricken with cancer led her to transition from a Human Resources role in the fashion and beauty industry to join Delete Blood Cancer as a Donor Recruitment Coordinator in 2013.

In this role, Duncan channels her energy to help fight cancer every day by recruiting qualified and committed bone marrow donors to the National Registry.  Her over 15 years of experience in community outreach and event planning has helped her exceed in building strong relationships and representing Delete Blood Cancer across seven states.  She was recently promoted to Trainer so that she can further develop the recruiting efforts for Delete Blood Cancer while leading more initiatives to impact the awareness of bone marrow donation and deleting blood cancer across the globe.

About Us

Delete Blood Cancer DKMS began with one family’s search for a bone marrow donor. In 1990, Peter Harf and his daughters went door-to-door in an effort to find a donor match for his wife and their mother, Mechtild Harf. They registered 68,000 donors in just one year. Sadly, Mechtild lost her battle, but in her honor, the Harfs started a bone marrow donor center (DKMS) that has since grown to be the world’s largest. We have branches in the U.S., Germany, the U.K., Poland and Spain. Globally, we have registered over 4.5 million donors and provided more than 40,000 patients with second chances at life.

Our Mission

Our mission is our name. We work every day to delete blood cancer by inspiring as many people as possible to register as bone marrow donors to provide patients with second chances at life. We are achieving this by celebrating how donors can save lives, dispelling the myths about the donation process and providing our hospital partners with quality donations in a timely manner.
