John Gardner: Millennials Need Mentors, Not Managers

06/17/2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Millennials Need Mentors, Not Managers: According to Pew Research, Millennials are currently the largest generation in the U.S. labor force and will comprise more than 75 percent of the workforce by 2025, according to Forbes.com. Never has a generation been smarter, better prepared, and more insecure than this one. Working with Millennials is an exhilarating experience that requires close examination of a business’ corporate culture balanced against Millennial mindsets. John Gardner, president of Luckie & Co. and a Gen X leader in a Millennial world, offers insights in how to hire, manage, integrate and work with employees that make up this massive, misaligned and often misunderstood generation without destroying the rest of your work force.

Luckie & Co. President John Gardner loves change. To him, it’s a signal that things are working, and it’s an opportunity to build connections between people, businesses and communities. John’s career has been marked by embracing and driving change in the marketing industry. Most recently this led to the transformation of Luckie & Company, a 65-year old marketing agency that is co-headquartered in downtown Duluth and Birmingham, Alabama. John joined Luckie after the agency acquired his firm, Integrative Logic, in 2011. He was named president of the agency in 2014 and he built the company into one of the top 20 advertising agencies in Atlanta. Luckie’s clients include GlaxoSmithKline, Region’s Bank, Little Debbie snacks, and Panama City Beach, among others. His presentation covers tactics for working with Millennial employees, and more specifically why this misunderstood generation of workers Needs Mentors, Not Managers.
