Team CEO Kurt Schneider to step down following 2016 North American tour in May (ATLANTA, Jan. 12, 2016) – The world famous Harlem Globetrotters named Howard Smith team president today. Smith, who most recently served as senior vice president of content strategy for Herschend Enterprises, the Globetrotters’ parent company, will take over leadership of the team from current CEO Kurt Schneider. Edward Ahmed Mitchell is a civil rights attorney who serves as executive director of CAIR Georgia: the Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. CAIR is the nation’s largest American Muslim civil rights organization. Edward graduated from Morehouse College and Georgetown University’s law school. Before joining CAIR Georgia, he served as a criminal prosecutor in Atlanta. He is also an editor of AtlantaMuslim.com, a member of the Georgia Association of Muslim Lawyers, and a member of the board of trustees of the Islamic Community Center of Atlanta.
