Alice Lagebrant: GRSP Student
September 25 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
My name is Alice Lagebrant and I am your GRSP student of year 2017/-18. I come from Swedenand I am 22 years old. I have two older brothers, Marcus who is 27 and Christian who is 30 years old. My mother works as a midwife and my father is a lawyer.
In my spare time I enjoy theater, writing, craftwork and outdoor activities. I have been an actress for a theater group for two years and last year I started writing my own manuscript of a musical theater, which I later directed and produced in Lund, the city where I study medicine at LundUniversity. I am particularly interested in the brain and how it works. For two summers I have worked on different research projects, the first about depression and how it can be induced by specific neurons in your brain and the second one about spatial navigation at National TaiwanUniversity Hospital in Taipei, where I stayed for six weeks earlier this summer. In the future I want to engage in organizations working with health and healthcare internationally. I also want to continue doing research about the brain and hope to work internationally at several different universities. I am also very interested in engineering and its applications within the medical field and I hope to work interdisciplinary to create new solutions. I would however still want to work part time on a clinic, in order to be there and see how the work done by research can affect and change peoples lives everyday.
Here in Georgia I am attending Brenau University where I study psychology, history and political science. Subjects I am very interested in and most definately enjoy taking so far, as they broaden my perspectives as an individual and, I hope, also as a future professional. I hope my year inAmerica will teach me a lot about my self, about the world I live in and how I and everyone I meet has a part in influencing, changing and building that world and the future. Thank you for giving me this opportunity!
