Sergeant Joshua Deas is with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and is currently assigned to the Special Investigations section-tasked with combatting Criminal Street Gangs, Human Trafficking and Internet Crimes Against Children. Sgt. Deas has been with the Sheriff’s Office for 11 years and has worked in various divisions within the office to include the jail, Court Security, Fugitive Investigations, General Investigations, and Special Investigations. He has completed hundreds of hours of training courses to include Gang Recognition and Identification, Gang Investigation and Prosecution, Mexican Drug Cartel Investigations, and has attended conferences aimed at both domestic and international investigations involving Criminal Street Gangs and Human Trafficking. Sgt. Deas has led hundreds of investigations into Criminal Street Gangs involving homicides, firearms offenses, and narcotics trafficking. He has also testified as an expert witness on Criminal Street Gang Activity and Drug Trafficking Organization lexicon.
