Dr. Carol Terry: Gwinnett County Medical Examiner

Carol A. Terry, M.D., is a native Gwinnetian who was a product of the Gwinnett County Public Education System and was the valedictorian of her North Gwinnett High School class. She attended Emory College of Emory University where she was in the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, was a double major with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and graduated in three years. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed a five-year residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in the Emory University Affiliated Hospital System. Following her residency, she subspecialized in the field of Forensic Pathology and did her fellowship at the Fulton County Medical Examiners’ Office in Atlanta. Dr. Terry has worked in the field of forensic pathology since 1994 and was on the staff of the Fulton County Medical Examiners’ Office from 1996-2004. She was a private contractor with the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office from 2004-2006. In 2006, her corporation, Forensic Pathology Services, P.C., obtained the contract with Gwinnett County to provide Gwinnett County’s medical examiner’s services. Since 2006, Dr. Terry has functioned as the Chief Medical Examiner for Gwinnett County. Dr. Terry’s hobbies include watching baseball, collecting baseball memorabilia, visiting National Parks and/or National Historic Sites, and spending time with her dogs (all of which are rescues). She currently resides less than a mile from the home in which she grew up.
