Dr. Dan Kaufman: President of the Gwinnett Chamber

Dr. Kaufman made the transition from his position as the founding President of Georgia Gwinnett College to become President of the Gwinnett Chamber on July 1. He came to GGC in 2005 after retiring from the U.S. Army, where he had served as a brigadier general and Dean of the Academic Board and Chief Academic Officer at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. His expertise in political science and public administration is evidenced in five books, the most recent beingUnderstanding International Relations. A decorated soldier with the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts, he has served as a member of the National Security Council staff in the White House, in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and as assistant to three Chiefs of Staff of the Army.
Since coming to Gwinnett County, Dr. Kaufman has been active in local affairs. He is a member of the Partnership Gwinnett Steering Committee and is on the Board of Directors of Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful, the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services, the Aurora Theatre, and the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation. Prior to becoming President, he was on the Board of the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce.
