Jason West serves as the Director of Programming at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center.  He graduated with honors from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both history and political science and obtained his Master of Education degree from Converse College.  West began his career as a social studies/history teacher, working with both sixth and eighth-grade students and served as a school administrator.  He also has experience with education from a policy/political perspective.  West has the distinction of being one of the youngest elected officials in the United States.  At the age of 19, he was elected to a term on the Kershaw County School Board in South Carolina.  In addition to his service in education, West has worked in the private sector having served as the Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Richardson Housing Group, Inc.  West is a graduate of the Leadership Gwinnett Class of 2005 and currently serves as one of the Leadership Gwinnett Infrastructure Day Co-Chairs.  He and his wife Angie have two children and make their home in Dacula.
