Judge Kathryn Schrader: Accountability Courts, Drug Court and Parenting Court

For twenty five years, Kathryn McCart Schrader has maintained her law office in Gwinnett County. Kathy has practiced law in metro Atlanta representing primarily families, but also clients in government, business and the private sector. As a seasoned litigator, she actively encourages clients to resolve their matters through uniquely established and proven resolution techniques she has developed over the course of her career. As a founding partner of Resolution Matters, Kathy is certified as a mediator and arbitrator by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. In addition to establishing a successful law firm and mediation practice, Kathy also serves as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Duluth and the City of Sugar Hill. Kathy has held many leadership positions in the Gwinnett County Bar Association including that of Past President of the Gwinnett County Bar Association. Kathy is a graduate of Leadership Gwinnett and is an active member in the Gwinnett Chamber.
As a result of her dedication to families and children, Kathy was appointed to the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice in 2008, which is an advisory board to the President and Congress on issues surrounding juvenile justice and children in crisis. Kathy has proven her dedication to her community and was appointed as a member of the board of directors for Governor’s Office for Children and Families which serves children and families across Georgia. Kathy currently serves as the Chair of the Subcommittee for Juvenile Justice. Kathy served on the former Children & Youth Coordinating Council which also assisted the children and youth of Georgia in crisis, in particular children subject to the juvenile justice programs. She serves on the advisory board of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Gwinnett, and previously the fundraising committee of the United Way Women’s Legacy of Gwinnett. Kathy was honored as a member of the 2008 Class of Women Out Front by Georgia Tech for her service to women and children. Kathy is a member of the Cornerstone Society of the Gwinnett Medical Center.
Kathy is actively involved in her church, Cross Pointe, The Church at Gwinnett Center, as a youth leader and mentor for the young women and small group leader for marriage enrichment. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and her law degree from Mercer University. She and her husband, Richard, have been married for twenty five years and live in Duluth, Georgia with their three children. Kathy and her husband, Richard, have served as coaches and scout leaders.
