Lejla Slowinski: Lawrenceville Housing Authority

As the Lawrenceville Housing Authority’s (LHA) Executive Director, Lejla Slowinski is responsible for the planning, organizing and directing of operations. Lejla is also the CEO of the Lawrenceville Housing Corporation where she has over seven years experience in management, business development and client relations. Her realization of the growing need for affordable housing inspired her to expand LHC’s programs to include roles as Gwinnett County NSP3 Asset Manager and the Gwinnett County Community Housing Development Organization.
Lejla administers operations and daily functions for the Housing Authority and Housing Corporation. She is responsible for strategic planning, capital positioning, organizational leadership, professional development, executing bond deals, property disposition and sales, financial and regulatory forecasting, compliance monitoring and reporting, overseeing annual audit and agency regulatory reviews by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, preparing the Annual Statement and 5-Year Plan, overseeing the creation and implementation of the operating and capital budgets (roughly $2M annually), and provides oversight for the departments of Administration, Finance, Maintenance, Construction and Resident Services/Family Self-Sufficiency. She serves as a liaison between the housing authority and the local community, local elected officials, and public and private affordable housing and community development organizations. Lejla reports to the PHA’s Board of Commissioners.
Lejla is also active in state and national housing associations. She is a member of the Executive Committee with the Georgia Association of Housing and Redevelopment Authorities (GAHRA); Chair of the National Legislative Committee for GAHRA; and a member of the Legislative Committee for the Public Housing Authorities Director’s Association.
Lejla holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia State University.
