Craig Camuso – Regional VP for State Government Affairs with CSX Transportation

Mr. Camuso is Regional Vice President – State Government Relations for CSX Transportation (CSXT), the largest Class I railroad east of the Mississippi River, overseeing the company’s government relations and public affairs activities in a seven-state region.

He joined CSXT in November 2001 following a ten-year career with the Association of Georgia’s Textile Carpet and Consumer Products Manufacturers (GTMA) where he held the position of Vice President of Public Affairs.

A 1990 graduate of The University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mr. Camuso was a long-time member of the UGA Alumni Association’s Executive Committee and currently sits on the Board of Trust at the University’s Grady College of Journalism.

He serves on numerous other boards including the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Louisiana Railroad Association, the Associated Industries of Florida (AIF), the Georgia Railroad Association (GRA), Georgia Operation Lifesaver, the Georgia Transportation Alliance, and the Georgia Youth Science & Technology Center (GYSTC) where he is also Vice Chairman.

Mr. Camuso was appointed in July 2018 by Governor Nathan Deal to the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Services Board and currently serves on its Executive Committee and is also involved as a member of the Georgia Special Olympics Honorary Board for which he has a passion.

He currently chairs The Exceptional Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving adults with developmental disabilities and assisting in their continued growth.

He is a Past Chairman of the Business and Industry Advisory Council for the Career Technical and Agricultural Education Program (CTAE) within the Georgia Department of Education. He served as Chair of the Georgia Chamber’s Government Affairs Council (GAC) from 2017-18.

In 2016, he was presented by CSXT with the Industrial Development Partnering Award for his work within the company on several major new business initiatives.  He was also named in 2017 by Z Politics as one of the 50 insider influences at the State Capitol.

A member of the Leadership Georgia Class of 2006, Mr. Camuso served on the organization’s Board of Trustees from 2010-12.

A former college baseball player who lettered two years at Georgia College, he managed his son’s travel baseball team for five years, but now enjoys coaching softball and basketball with the Gwinnett Special Forces Special Olympics program.

He and his wife of 28 years, Kim, have two children — Sara (23), a recent graduate of UGA who is currently pursuing her Master’s, and Davis (20), who is a sophomore at Georgia College & State University (GCSU) in Milledgeville. They reside in Statham.
